2024 Year End Write Up

Good morning all!

As the dust settles on another season in the Late Models at Thunder Road, we wanted to take a minute and put a bow on everything that happen to our team this year, as we look towards our next year of competition in 2025.

Season Highlights

Our VSAC Late Model showcased speed at times, securing three top-five finishes and six top-ten finishes, but we definitely had to fend off some gremlins throughout the entirety of it. We found the podium twice (both 3rd place finishes), but for the first time since embarking on this racing journey, we didn't manage to win a feature event.

Our proudest moment came on July 4th, where we saw a 3rd place finish after catching on fire (briefly), and totaling the car the week before. Though each race presented its own challenges; the tires weren't just right, or drastic changes in weather had us chasing our tails, our crew worked their behinds off all season long to make sure we had the best piece possible.

We attempted to qualify for the illustrious Milk Bowl, but luck was not on our side. After spending most of the practice day towards the top of the speed charts, we found out we had a cut tire after our time trial on Saturday, which resulted in us being 3rd to last on the charts. We knew we had an uphill battle in the 50 lap qualifier, but our race was cut short abruptly when another car hit the wall, and came down in front of us, totaling us out of the race bad enough we could not get it fixed for the Sunday LCQ. It wasn't an ideal end to our season, but nonetheless we had finally seemed to put all the pieces back together and found our early season speed again, we just fought the bad luck.

Community Connections

In addition to the racing, we had a great time getting our car out into the community, and showcasing the track and our sponsors. We had a blast at the Vermont Lake Monsters game, meeting new and existing fans alike, and doing a little cobranding with VTSU and our VSAC car.

We also took part in the Milton Touch a Truck and Williston Touch a Truck events, where the next generation of fans had the opportunity to get up close and personal with our race car. It was truly enjoyable to see the joy on some faces, and have them learning a little more about what it takes to make it all go around. These interactions remind us of the importance of building relationships within our community, and inspiring the next generation of racers and fans alike.

Looking Ahead

As we look towards the next season, we're looking forward to growing our program and finding some more consistency, and hopefully chasing trophies week in and week out.

As always, this season would not have been possible without some amazing sponsors and supporters:

Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC)

KAS Inc

MasterTech Automotive

Burly Axe Throwing

Vermont Sim Racer

Giroux Body Shop

Marine Plus

Village Tavern

Marcotte and Sons Auto

Be on the lookout for some off-season updates, as we're bound to have some exciting news on the sponsorship end as we approach 2025!

We appreciate you all coming on this journey with us, and hope to continue to follow us into year TEN!
