VT Tire and Accura Printing Night

Afternoon all!

Here with a delayed write-up from the last two races on the card. With not a lot of action, this will be a quicker write-up than most have been, as we look to move past a lesser last two races.

Starting with VT Tire Night, following our win, we unloaded the car for practice with an alright handle on it, but come heat race time, we started up front and tangled with a car on lap 3 of the heat racing for the lead, sending us both to the back and missing a qualifying spot through the heat. We went into the consi and started closer to the back again, and finished one spot outside of a qualifying position again. Come feature time, we started 10th, but the longer the night went the worse the car got, and we ended up finishing down on power in one piece in 16th out of 21 cars. An engine tear down the next morning to check a ticking sound we had picked up ended up being a broken rocker stud, which miraculously didn't end up blowing the car up, but explained a bit of our issues from the night before and lacking the drive we needed off the turns.

Moving to Accura Night with all 8 cylinders, we started on the pole position for our heat race, and led all 12 laps in front of some tough customers including the current point leader! We qualified straight into the feature with this finish, and started outside pole position, but when we took the green flag hoping to capitalize on our starting position, the car just didn't want to handle like it did in the heat. Instead, we made a quick drop back to the outside into nearly last, and raced our way back up past a few cars to end up 14th.

The race win was a big confidence boost for us, and we're going to try our best to end up in the front again before the year ends. Our next race is this coming Sunday for the Labor Day Classic ACT Tour Race, where we'll see 200 laps of green flag racing on the card for the afternoon.
