Hey all, here again for the next weekly update.
This past Wednesday, after picking the car back up fixed and legal, the team got the great idea to bring it over to White Mountain Motorsports Park. We hurriedly filled out the sign up form, and got to working on the car, double checking everything over and making sure we were prepared.
We unloaded the car Saturday afternoon not knowing what to expect. After the first practice, we sat all frustrated, not knowing what to do or what direction to head in, as I was still trying to figure out the track so it was hard to gauge how the car was really handling. After the third and final practice and a mandatory technical inspection, we drew chip 22, which saw us starting 1st in the second heat race. We left the car the way it came off track from the last practice, and fought a little looseness to end up 3rd, qualifying to the plus minus right through our heat.
When all was said and done, we started 10th in the feature, and over a long 75 laps, a few spins and cautions from fellow competitors, we wound up 6th place. Over the course of 75 laps, you've got no choice but to figure out how to drive the track, and by the end of the race , I was definitely feeling comfortable enough with the car and how to drive the track, that the team decided we would continue the series and race the other two races. This was a learning experience for the entire team and I, and it wouldn't have been possible at all without the help of my parents, a good friend in Grant Edson, and all of our sponsors: Frost Beer Works, KAS Consulting, MasterTech Automotive, Woods CRW, Giroux Body Shop, Bronson Johnson Seamless Gutters, Duxbury Auto Tech, Dion's Locksmith, and Classic Ventures.
The next race is this Sunday, May 26th @ 1:30 for the 57th Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic. We hope to see you all there!
