Good afternoon all!
Coming at you on a regular race day to tell all about the recap from our first event of 2024, The Community Bank 150!
Our team had a successful first go at the nations site of excitement, where a jam packed schedule saw the celebration of life of Vermont own Ken Squier, the car show, and a complete evening of racing with our new partner VSAC front and center!
We unloaded our car for the show, got to sign some autographs, and see new and old faces to the track. We had some decent speed in practice, but didn't feel we had a car that could go the whole distance when the green flew. We made a couple small swings at it for the heat race, and after replacing a broken right front hub from last practice and almost missing the heat, we picked up 4 spots and were a lap shy from qualifying straight to the feature. We had to run the consolation race, where luckily we started on the pole (due to being the first car from the first heat race to not qualify), and finished on the pole, taking our +4 into the feature for a 4th place
start out of 29 cars!
We managed to stay in the front of the field, fighting a tight race car, and on lap 62 were part of a caution that ultimately got us put to the back of the field. Nonetheless, the car was still hooked up on the top side, and we managed to drive our way back up to 15th as the first car a lap down by the time the checkered flag flew.
These types of races aren't usually our forte, but we managed to keep everything in one piece, and will be able to work on finding more speed in the shop from now until the next race on May 26th!
We appreciate those who got us to the track and helped out in any way (a major thank you to Mark Lanphear for lending us a spare hub so we could finish our day out), and those who support and root for our team.
We look forward to seeing you on the 26th!
