Evening all!
Here for the first post race write-up from this eventful weekend of racing with lots of action, but still will be a short write-up, all starting with the car show and practice from Saturday.
We revealed the car for those without Facebook and socials, and it was received well! We were especially happy with how it looked on track, and we were hoping the speed would be there too.
After a nervous first practice hitting the track for the first time, we had finally picked up some more competitive speed by the third practice, and though we were towards the bottom, lots of car we're close. We loaded up in one piece on Saturday and made the ride home for the morning after out banquet, where we were recognized for our 6th place points in the regular season championship, and 4th in the Myers Triple Crown Series in the Tiger Sportsman.
Come Sunday, the speed we had from the day before was gone when the sun came out. We fought tightness in all 3 practices, but had the car comfortable for the last practice and heats. We drew chip 36 in the plus minus, putting us 4th in the second heat to start. A little rookie mistake had us tap the turn 4 wall and spin into the infield unscathed, where we finished our heat in last. Going into the consi, we also started last, but managed to pass a couple cars, but still fail to qualify to the plus minus. Luckily, they took all 30 of us to start the feature, where we started 28th. It was a caution filled event, but we had made it up to 17th place before some close racing saw us go into the turn 1 wall backwards, effectively ending our night. We still fought tightness in the car throughout the rest of the day, but we had just started coming into our own before we wrecked.
Our car is fixable regardless of how it may look, and we will 100% be back and ready for the first Thunder Road points race on May 30th.
